Publicity Director Shelby Janner is a Native Austinite passionate about helping thought leaders and brands shares their stories.
As an accomplished PR professional, she has overseen dozens of publicity campaigns including three New York Times bestselling books. She has managed PR for Captain “Sully” Sullenberger and national bestselling series Chicken Soup for the Soul — directing local and regional publicity for 10 series titles a year.
Previously, Shelby was Publicity Manager at Advantage Media Group, helping busy professionals in the financial and healthcare industries grow their business through earned media coverage. Prior to that, she wrote social media content and developed social media strategies. Now as Publicity Director, she works closely with her colleagues who run her clients’ social media to ensure integrated campaigns.
Constantly looking for new ways to hone her pitching and writing skills, she loves researching media and diving in to find the best angle for a specific reporter or outlet. Through everything she values keen attention to detail and impeccable customer service – always available to guide her clients through the (sometimes confusing!) publicity process. She is also passionate about mentorship, taking on PR interns from Austin-area colleges and giving them hands-on public relations experience each semester.
Shelby has consistently secured media coverage in top outlets like “The Doctors,” Yahoo!, Associated Press, The Globe and Mail, Chicago Tribune, NPR, HelloGiggles, FOX Business, FOX News, Inc., Fortune, Fast Company, Forbes, Entrepreneur and more.
She graduated with from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English and a concentration in Business Foundations from the McCombs School of Business.
